The Merle Thomas Foundation is proud to announce the launch of the 2025/26 Merle Thomas Foundation Scholarship Programme, an international initiative dedicated to advancing educational opportunity and nurturing global citizenship. Anchored in the vision of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Jamaica’s Vision 2030, the Foundation’s scholarship affirms its commitment to reducing inequalities and fostering a more just, equitable world.
About the Scholarship.
Education is not only a pathway out of poverty – it is a catalyst for sustainable transformation at the community, national, and global levels. The Merle Thomas Foundation Scholarship joins a worldwide movement to ensure that bright, deserving students can access quality learning opportunities and emerge as leaders who champion progress, equity, and innovation.
Scholarship Features and Global Significance.
Financial Empowerment
Each scholarship recipient will receive a grant of JA$50,000 to offset tuition and educational expenses, directly alleviating financial barriers that impede access to learning.
Internationally-Inspired Mentorship
Scholars are enrolled in a comprehensive mentorship programme, including workshops and skills training informed by experts in best practices in global leadership development.
Ambassadorship and Leadership
Recipients act as junior ambassadors, both locally and internationally, fostering cross-cultural understanding, civic responsibility, and advocacy in education.
Global Multiplier Effect
By empowering outstanding students, the Foundation fuels a ripple effect of positive change, as recipients are encouraged to “give back,” applying their experience for the betterment of their communities and beyond.
